FBH feature: Sephora Canada

I love the Sephora app. I purchase most of my beauty items on there; it is so easy to read ingredient lists, see highlighted product features, analyze real reviews & of course collect reward points. This year I decided I need to step up my skin care to achieve better results (yolo). Spring is a great time to reassess your routine, ditch everything you don’t love & upgrade where needed.

With the Sephora spring sale around the corner we are sharing our top finds, clean options and beauty staples that will provide targeted results.

An ode to Dermalogica:

Resurfacing lactic acid cleanser: this cleanser is medical grade and chemically exfoliates for brighter, even looking skin. I love the results but should only be used a few times a week. Enhances skin ability to absorb moisturizers, retexturizes aging skin for a fresh smooth surface.

AGE bright serum: this serum has a strange sort of sticky texture that I wasn’t sure of when I first tried it but this blew me away. It clears any blemishes or clogged pores through salicylic acid revealing brighter more even toned clear skin. Allow it to dry before following with moisturizer.

Circular hydration serum: Now that my skin was washed and prepped for moisture after the exfoliation this is the perfect serum to lock hydration in before adding moisturizer. In warmer climates this can be used alone or with eye cream for plum, dewy looking skin. Hyaluronate serum that prevents dehydration.

Super Rich Repair moisturizer: I follow up my Dermalogica cleanser and serums with a moisturizer. I alternate between one with retinol and this strong reparative moisturizer to lock in hydration and deeply nourish toned skin. I really like the ingredient list its mostly natural and is formulated very well without fragrance.

TULA:

Revive+Rewind revitalizing eye cream: I have tried dozens of eye creams and have never found one I like as much as this. It is smooth& buttery, does not pill or dry unevenly and it absorbs into my eyes making them look refreshed and less puffy. Improves firmness & elasticity with olive squalene, peptides & grape seed, I hope this eye cream is never discontinued. Highly recommend!

JOSIE MARAN

Pink algae retinol moisturizer: Josie maran is a clean, natural beauty brand with interesting formulations that keep getting better. I love this hyaluronate moisturizer that has vitamin A (retinol) for brightening  dark spots and giving skin a hydrated glow. Comes in beautiful packaging that is very clean to be used a few times a week.

Whipped argan oil cream: My new years resolution was to mind the rest of my skin and not only my face and neck. I always like to use clean products on the body so I purchased the unscented and citrus whipped body butter. It absorbs quickly and penetrates offering long lasting hydration.

Dr Jart+

Tiger grass foam cleanser: This cleanser is perfect for calming skin in between ‘active’ days (retinol, or chemical exfoliation) to protect and nourish the skin barrier without irritation. When I was first finding this balance this cleanser healed burned skin and feels very soothing.

Pore Remedy PHA exfoliating serum: A non harsh, water like serum clinically proven to decongest, shrink pores without irritation or dryness. I recently used this on vacation in Mexico after cleansing to tone skin of any impurities before moisturizing and my skin stayed clear and bright post suncreen.

Dr Jart Sheet masks: Dr Jart facemask truly deliver exceptional results. This is a Korean skin care company with unique compositions and targeted delivery. The brightening mask is exceptional after one use you will notice a difference as are all the hydration, soothing and calming options. So impressed with the results from a $10 sheet mask! Love.

Paula’s Choice

Sephora Canada recently brought Paulas choice to Canada after being a huge hit in the U.S. I have been buying the liquid and gel BHA exfoliant from the Paula’s Choice website for about a year and like how much it turns over dead skin revealing a smoother complexion.

Up until November I predominantly used clean beauty oils with drug store cleansers and some occasional clay and sheet masks. I will always love juice beauty vinifera oil, Kiehl’s kaolin clay mask and living libations products but I needed more. Occasionally I would venture into the beauty department of Whole Foods or other health stores looking for clean skincare but this year I came to realize that while products may have similar or clean ingredients; formulations differ (affecting how product is absorbed) and that this is equally important for obtaining results. I decided to go searching for better texture (smooth & clear skin), deeper hydration, greater cell turnover and a lit from within (topical) glow.

As we age our collagen is depleted and we often require deeper means of exfoliating to shed dead skin cells in order for products to penetrate. Dermalogica and Paula’s choice were the right actives that work for me. Here are my current favorites and skin care regime all available at Sephora.
